This project is the eighth transfer of the plot to the screen. There are three anime series, one mini-series, and three feature films. Greta Gerwig was first hired by Sony Pictures to finalize a script previously written by other authors. Given the success of her film “Lady Bird”, the producers invited her to do the directing.
