The plot of the film begins when some ecoterrorists steal a sonar device created by the scientist Emma (Vera Farmiga) to control Godzilla , while her ex-husband (Kyle Chandler) is recruited to track him down. In between, the Japanese beast faces monstrous rivals such as the winged Mothra and the three-headed dragon Ghidorah.
